Idols, as we know, are not only artists in the music field, but are often entertainment professionals in all forms. In addition to singing and dancing, composing, playing, they are often also able to act, dub and present. One of the best ways to discover the entertaining skills of our favorite idols is undoubtedly to follow them when they are guests on TV shows and some of these shows have become a must, especially during promotions for a comeback. One such pivotal show for any good (or sometimes even solo) group is Weekly Idol or, in Korean, Jungan idol (주간 아이돌).
This hugely popular strain has been broadcast by MBC on a weekly basis since 2011. In an extraordinarily sparse scenography studio, the hosts chat with guests in an informal and carefree atmosphere, and to this they add various games in a succession of segments that highlight the artists' talents and flaws, alternating glory and embarrassment without ever taking themselves seriously. . From the classic challenge to dance choreographies proposed in a completely random way to a limbo competition, everything is worth it to get fans and viewers a laugh.
The list of presenters who have followed in the conduct of the program is large and full of well-known faces. Iconic in particular were Jeong Hyeong Don and Defconn, legendary mc since the first episode. They have been replaced by various personalities, among which very often idols themselves; right now the two artists at the reins of the program are Eunhyuk (Super Junior) and Hwang Kwang Hee (ZE: A).
The show is very easily found online, especially on YouTube, where it is often uploaded with subtitles. Clips of the best moments are everywhere, because it is really impossible to resist the laughter of Weekly Idol.
